Hello 2019!

Happy 2019! We are excited for the new year! Looking back I see the hardships and trials, but I also see all the miracles and tender mercies. I am going to try harder to put family updates out once a month. More for my sake so I can have a record of what goes on in the family since I have an awful memory. But here is a little bit about our year.

As a family:
We took two family trips:
-Phoenix in February so I could run the Phoenix 1/2
-Los Alamos in July to spend time with grandparents and cousins
We also had lots of family come visit!
We tried to do lots of fun things as a family and explore the places close to us.

Alex:
He has been keeping busy with work, he has been on 3 business trip (Southern California twice, once in Irvine and once in Pasadena, and Phoenix)
He also got some new responsibilities with his Job,
He had a birthday and turned 31
The clutch on his car Ron went out, but he hopes to fix it.
And he does an awesome job taking care of us and being Handy

Lezlie:
I also had a birthday, I turned 30,
I went on my first cruise with my family.
I ran a 3 races this year, hope to run more in the coming year
I got a cricut and have expanded my crafting knowledge
I love teaching primary and I enjoy being home with the kids

Bentley:
He had 2 heart surgeries
This summer he did Tennis, Swimming, Soccer, and Ninja.
He turned 4
He enjoys doing "mommy preschool" Getting ready for kindergarten
Has enjoyed every minute he can with friends and family

Hadley:
Is growing so fast!
She turned 1
Its been fun watching her personality bloom
She loves babies, dressing up,and dancing
She got to have a vacation with Grandma Grandpa Smith and cousins while Bentley was in the hospital and did so good!

I'm sure I missed things, but these are the most memorable We are so blessed and grateful for all the love and support we have here! It is hard being away from family, but we have so much love and support here. We are looking forward to a new year and new adventures!!

Family of 🖐🏻!

Welcome Emmet Stanford!! Born on May12 at 2:25am. Weighing 8 lbs 14oz, 21 inches long! We welcomed our newest addition, Emmet! Here is his birth story, it’s a short one this time around which is fine with me😊  The kids are enamored by him and we all love him so much! We were expecting him early because of my history with Bentley and Hadley, my doctor thought he would make his appearance earlier than later. My mom and sister were able to stay at home and quarantine for two weeks so they could be here when the baby came and watch Bentley and Hadley. We had them come May 1, because were were sure I would go into labor around then. However Emmet decided to take his time and didn’t come until I was 40+1. I was definitely ready! It was kind of a scary quick labor. I wasn’t sure we would make it to the hospital. I woke up around midnight with a contraction, but it wasn’t too bad and was able to fall asleep for an hour.  At one I woke up again with a stronger contraction, an...

Bentley's Heart-March 6, 2018

Since moving to Tracy, I have realized that a lot of people aren't aware of Bentleys heart. Not that I don't want people to know, I just have a hard time bringing it up. Before I update his condition, I'll just give a little background on what it is. Bentley was born with a rare heart condition called Congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries (cctga). The easy way to explain it is the arteries on his heart are switched, the larger artery which is supposed pump blood to his body, is pumping blood to his lungs, and the smaller artery which is supposed to pump blood to his lungs, is pumping the blood to his body.  Cctga comes in 3 forms and Bentley has the most rare. His Cctga also causes him to have a heart block, which just means his the top and bottom of his heart aren't beating in sync, causing his heart to beat at a slower rate.  Most of the times when diagnosed with Cctga kids have other major issues with their hearts and need open hear...

The Richards family is on the move!

The last time I posted was over a year ago! Like the rest of the world this year was anything but ordinary. We did however all grow a year older, and we learned to adapt the best we could to our new way of life.  With COVID, a new baby and Bentleys heart we tried to be extra cautious. We spent a lot of time at home together, a lot of time going to the beach and different parks together. We worshipped each Sunday from our living room over zoom and had many Facetime and Skype calls with our families. We turned a bedroom into a home office while Alex worked form home, and our living room into a virtual classroom for Bentley while he did his entire first grade year. Hadley and I did some mommy pre-school. And Emmet was just the happiest baby that went along with it all (while growing up way too fast!)  During the past year we have had our fair share of disappointments and joyful moments, but through them all we have grown. Grown closer in our relationships with each other an...
