Family Update!

Family:

We have been doing fantastic! To start off we Moved! Alex's work bought a new building that had an apartment above it. It is a 2 bedroom so there is plenty of room for the three of us. It is also cheaper rent and we are allowed to have pets! So my family drove my cat Lovey all the way from New Mexico to be with us :) We are enjoying our new ward and are enjoying the nice weather by going on walks to the parks around us.

We also Blessed Bentley and we had lots of family come for his blessing, Alex did a beautiful job and gave such a sweet blessing to our boy. Justin also came to visit! It was fun having him here. We also were able to talk to Dalton on Mothers Day! We did a whole family Skype, it was so fun to have all of us together, and Dalton is doing so good in Brazil.

We are also making another trip to New Mexico, Bentley and I will stay for two weeks and Alex will come back to work.

Bentley:

He is so sweet and full of smiles! he is starting to giggle and it just makes my heart melt so much! He is also a great sleeper at night he sleeps anywhere between 7-10 hours! He loves to use his legs! He likes to stand up and practice walking(with our help of course:). He also has found his hands, he really enjoys sucking on them.

We are all so happy with Bentleys Health! As are his Doctors! He is growing and developing just like he should. He is now 3 months old weighs 11.5 lbs, and is 23 inches long! At our last Cardiologist visit he said that his hope is he won't need a pacemaker until he is 5 years old! He said in other heart block babies that he has seen if they are strong and gaining weight and growing like Bentley, then they usually skip the first pacemaker, and will get one when they are around 5. He will need one, but the longer we put off surgery the better. They monitored his heart for 24 hours so we had a take home monitor, and they found that his resting heart rate is around 63bpm. The lowest it went was 58 and it got all the way up in the 70's!  (Which is still really slow for a baby) We are just so happy that his body is tolerating it so well. We are just thrilled that he is doing so well, he is our little miracle baby!

Lezlie:

I am also doing well, trying to lose some baby weight that I've gained. I have been taking some water fitness classes at the rec center and get out and run whenever I can.

I also got a calling in the Ward, I am the new young women's president! At first I was kinda nervous, but have come to realize I don't need to be, the Lord has called me and he will help me out. Our ward does not have very many young women so we combine with the other branch in our building. On my first sunday in the calling there was only one girl there. On the roll there are 18 girls, but I understand only 3 or 4 are active. So my counselor and I have a lot of work ahead of us to bring the girls back! I am going to do my best to be a good leader and role model for the girls.

I have started practicing the cello again, I took a little break but am ready to go full force. I am still looking for students to teach, but I am going to audition for the Lakewood symphony in August. Jaclyn gave me her Piano so I am excited to start practicing again, however it is  still at the bottom of the stairs we need some strong boys to help Alex bring it up!

Alex:

He also got a new calling, he is a ward missionary and he teaches the gospel principles sunday school class. He has only taught one Sunday so far but enjoys teaching, so it is a great calling for him.

He has also been very helpful and handy around the house doing whatever he can for Bentley and I. I couldn't ask for a better husband! We had a good Fathers day for him, Bentley and I made him breakfast in Bed, then we got some new cloths and a new shower head.
Fathers Day 2014

He is also doing well, he is still loving his job. He is also going to start studying to take the GMAT, he is going to go back to school to get his MBA next year.

Anyway I think that is all that is new with our little family! We will update again soon!
Love Always Alex, Lezlie, and Bentley

Bentley's Heart-March 6, 2018

Since moving to Tracy, I have realized that a lot of people aren't aware of Bentleys heart. Not that I don't want people to know, I just have a hard time bringing it up. Before I update his condition, I'll just give a little background on what it is. Bentley was born with a rare heart condition called Congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries (cctga). The easy way to explain it is the arteries on his heart are switched, the larger artery which is supposed pump blood to his body, is pumping blood to his lungs, and the smaller artery which is supposed to pump blood to his lungs, is pumping the blood to his body.  Cctga comes in 3 forms and Bentley has the most rare. His Cctga also causes him to have a heart block, which just means his the top and bottom of his heart aren't beating in sync, causing his heart to beat at a slower rate.  Most of the times when diagnosed with Cctga kids have other major issues with their hearts and need open hear...

Bentley surgery update ♥️

Before I was able to update the blog about Bentley’s surgery it got moved up! Surgery was scheduled for November 28. Then on Wednesday of last week the surgeons office called and said they would need to move his surgery later date. However that had a last minute opening on Friday and asked if that would be enough time. We have already been waiting for a couple months so we said we could do Friday!  So here I am writing this on my phone from the hospital. 🙂 Let me back up a little bit. The week of November 3 Bentley had a series of tests and procedures to see if he would be a candidate for the double switch surgery. My awesome mother in law came out and took care of Hadley while we were in and out of the hospital that week.  He ended up not being a candidate yet, the pressure in his artery still needed to be a little higher before they would consider him a candidate,  so we proceeded with our previous plan of just tightening his PA Band.  When we found out ou...
