Bentley’s ♥️ update

First of all, I feel so extremely blessed for all the messages and texts that I have received the last week! It brought so much comfort knowing Bentley had so many people rooting and
Praying for him!

The day of surgery and the days following were scary and emotional and don’t even know if I can explain how hard it was for Alex and I. But we made it! And  Bentley had a great day today! Today we were able to take out so many tubes and a couple of IVs and he was able to have Jello and Mac and cheese. He even had a visit from Hadley and Grandma and Grandpa which brought some smiles out😊 We still have a long road to recovery, and  we are still in the ICU, but we are just taking it one day at a time.

He has been so strong and Brave and I couldn’t be more proud to be his mom♥️ I know it’s hard now, but it’s not the end, I will eventually post an update about his heart and the surgery. But I’ve been running on very little sleep and hope to get some rest tonight.
Love Always

This is Donny, she’s the therapy dog at the hospital, Bentley has really got to know her the last year and a half. He has really grown to love her!  This was taken on Tuesday May 28 during one of his pre op tests
This was taken tonight June 2, after he got all ready for bed. And one of the best smiles I’ve gotten from him today. Here’s to hoping we get more than  2 hours of sleep tonight🤞

Family of 🖐🏻!

Welcome Emmet Stanford!! Born on May12 at 2:25am. Weighing 8 lbs 14oz, 21 inches long! We welcomed our newest addition, Emmet! Here is his birth story, it’s a short one this time around which is fine with me😊  The kids are enamored by him and we all love him so much! We were expecting him early because of my history with Bentley and Hadley, my doctor thought he would make his appearance earlier than later. My mom and sister were able to stay at home and quarantine for two weeks so they could be here when the baby came and watch Bentley and Hadley. We had them come May 1, because were were sure I would go into labor around then. However Emmet decided to take his time and didn’t come until I was 40+1. I was definitely ready! It was kind of a scary quick labor. I wasn’t sure we would make it to the hospital. I woke up around midnight with a contraction, but it wasn’t too bad and was able to fall asleep for an hour.  At one I woke up again with a stronger contraction, an...

Bentley's Heart-March 6, 2018

Since moving to Tracy, I have realized that a lot of people aren't aware of Bentleys heart. Not that I don't want people to know, I just have a hard time bringing it up. Before I update his condition, I'll just give a little background on what it is. Bentley was born with a rare heart condition called Congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries (cctga). The easy way to explain it is the arteries on his heart are switched, the larger artery which is supposed pump blood to his body, is pumping blood to his lungs, and the smaller artery which is supposed to pump blood to his lungs, is pumping the blood to his body.  Cctga comes in 3 forms and Bentley has the most rare. His Cctga also causes him to have a heart block, which just means his the top and bottom of his heart aren't beating in sync, causing his heart to beat at a slower rate.  Most of the times when diagnosed with Cctga kids have other major issues with their hearts and need open hear...

Bentley surgery update ♥️

Before I was able to update the blog about Bentley’s surgery it got moved up! Surgery was scheduled for November 28. Then on Wednesday of last week the surgeons office called and said they would need to move his surgery later date. However that had a last minute opening on Friday and asked if that would be enough time. We have already been waiting for a couple months so we said we could do Friday!  So here I am writing this on my phone from the hospital. 🙂 Let me back up a little bit. The week of November 3 Bentley had a series of tests and procedures to see if he would be a candidate for the double switch surgery. My awesome mother in law came out and took care of Hadley while we were in and out of the hospital that week.  He ended up not being a candidate yet, the pressure in his artery still needed to be a little higher before they would consider him a candidate,  so we proceeded with our previous plan of just tightening his PA Band.  When we found out ou...
